Samuel Eto’o has been re-elected president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) after securing 85 of 87 votes at the organisation’s General Assembly. The former striker, who first took office in 2021, will now serve another four-year term through 2029.

The election featured Eto’o as the sole candidate, consolidating his control over the federation during a period marked by both reform efforts and institutional tension within Cameroonian football.

A Mandate Reinforced by FECAFOOT Delegates Samuel Eto’o

The re-election confirms strong internal backing for Eto’o’s leadership despite ongoing governance challenges in Cameroonian football.

Of the 87 delegates eligible to vote:

• 85 voted in favour,

• 2 abstained,

• 0 voted against.

The margin underscores Eto’o’s political influence within FECAFOOT and suggests continuity rather than structural change for the federation’s executive direction.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino Among First to Offer Congratulations

Shortly after the announcement, FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated Eto’o in a message referenced publicly by the FECAFOOT president.

Eto’o shared the exchange on Instagram, calling Infantino’s call an “ultimate privilege” and framing the re-election as validation of his team’s work.
