Real Madrid has signed a new sponsorship agreement with Corpay, a global leader in corporate payments, which will see the company’s Cross-Border division become an official sponsor of the club for the next three seasons. The deal signals yet another entry by a financial services provider into top-tier European football, as clubs diversify sponsorship portfolios to include more B2B service providers.
The agreement was formally signed at Real Madrid City and attended by Emilio Butragueño, the club’s Director of Institutional Relations, alongside Pablo de la Vega and Roberto del Diego Monedero, co-directors at Corpay.
A Partnership Anchored in Financial Infrastructure Real Madrid Corpay
While the deal is officially framed as a sponsorship, the strategic value for Corpay lies in positioning itself as the go-to provider of cross-border payment solutions for global businesses — including, by implication, clubs operating with international payrolls, multi-currency operations, and foreign vendor transactions.
Though the financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, it represents a functional alignment between Corpay’s B2B capabilities and Real Madrid’s international brand footprint, particularly in North America, the Middle East, and Asia — key growth regions for both organisations.
“Our Cross-Border business is focused on helping global organisations navigate complex international payment challenges,” said Pablo de la Vega. “Partnering with a club of Real Madrid’s stature is a meaningful way to communicate that value to markets we care about.”
Real Madrid Continues to Diversify Its Commercial Base
For Real Madrid, the agreement is part of an ongoing effort to broaden its commercial ecosystem beyond traditional consumer brands. In recent years, the club has added fintech, blockchain, enterprise tech, and now cross-border finance to its growing list of commercial partners.
Emilio Butragueño, speaking at the announcement, underlined the symbolic and functional relevance of the deal:
“Real Madrid continues to seek partners who share our global vision and values of excellence. Corpay’s leadership in the financial services sector, particularly in cross-border transactions, makes them a natural fit.”
This positioning reflects a shift in modern sponsorships: visibility is no longer enough. Clubs like Real Madrid are increasingly forming alliances with companies that can offer strategic services and align with long-term operational or digital transformation objectives.
