LaLiga, Spain's professional football league, has introduced a new platform called "LaLiga Summer Tour" to arrange friendly match tours for its clubs during the summer season. This initiative is a part of LaLiga's international development strategy, which aims to expand the passion of LaLiga to its fans worldwide. The platform will continue to drive LaLiga's long-term growth in key markets, particularly in North America. These matches will be played before the official competitions start.
The "LaLiga Summer Tour" will begin in the United States and Mexico in 2023 and will feature four renowned LaLiga clubs. This tour is part of LaLiga North America's strategy to develop and expand the league, its clubs, and competitions in North American markets. Relevent Sports Group will oversee all aspects of promotion, marketing, operations, and logistics, drawing on their expertise in bringing global soccer to North America through their joint venture with LaLiga.
According to Oscar Mayo, Executive General Director of LaLiga, the creation of the "LaLiga Summer Tour" is a way for LaLiga to provide a platform for its teams to play friendly matches in various parts of the world and allow all clubs to develop business opportunities in priority markets. The United States and Mexico represent a significant opportunity for LaLiga and its clubs to expand their brand and business, particularly in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup in 2026. The tour will take place during the first week of August, and the teams and cities where the friendly matches will be played will be announced shortly. The tour is supported by ESPN and SKY, the official broadcasters of LaLiga in the United States and Mexico, respectively. They will be responsible for producing the matches, allowing LaLiga fans to exclusively enjoy each match on their platforms.
