Salernitana 1919 has officially announced the appointment of Gianluca Petrachi as the club's new Sporting Director, signing a two-year contract as the team gears up for future challenges. This strategic hire marks a significant move in the club’s ambitions to bolster its position in competitive football.


A Storied Career in Football Management Gianluca Petrachi Salernitana


Gianluca Petrachi brings to Salernitana a wealth of experience in football management, having held several key positions at various clubs over the years. His career started at AC Pisa 1909, where he served as Technical Director and then as Sporting Director, setting the stage for his future in top-tier football management.


Petrachi is perhaps best known for his impactful tenure at Torino FC, where he served as Sporting Director from January 2010 until June 2019. During this period, he was pivotal in reshaping the team and its operations, contributing to Torino's sustained performance in Serie A. His brief stint as Manager of Torino before becoming the Sporting Director showcased his versatile approach to team management and strategy.


Following his successful period at Torino, Petrachi took on the role of Sporting Director at AS Roma from July 2019 to June 2020. Although his time at Roma was shorter, his contributions in terms of player acquisitions and strategic direction were noteworthy, further solidifying his reputation in Italian football.

As Salernitana's new Sporting Director, Petrachi's role will be crucial in driving the club forward through strategic player acquisitions, development of youth talent, and enhancing the overall competitive strategy of the team. His proven track record in building competitive teams and negotiating in the transfer market will be invaluable as Salernitana seeks to strengthen its squad and improve its standings in the league.
