SC Freiburg generated a club-record €212.1 million in revenue during the 2025/26 financial year, an increase of 30.3% from €162.8 million in the previous season, supported by its European campaign, domestic cup performance and player transfers.
The Bundesliga club also reported a net profit of €30.5 million, compared with €11.8 million in 2024/25. The result represents an increase of approximately 158% and contributed to a further strengthening of Freiburg's balance sheet.
The figures reflect a season in which Freiburg reached the UEFA Europa League final in Istanbul and the DFB-Pokal semi-finals, generating additional competition-related income alongside profits from player trading.
European Competition Drives Revenue Growth Freiburg
The club generated €212.1 million in 2025/26, surpassing its previous record of €203.1 million in 2023/24, when revenue exceeded €200 million for the first time.
Revenue had fallen to €162.8 million in 2024/25, a season without European competition income, before recovering to a new high in 2025/26.
The Europa League campaign, which ended with an appearance in the final in Istanbul, provided additional revenue opportunities through UEFA distributions and matchday activity. Freiburg's run to the DFB-Pokal semi-finals also contributed to the financial result.
Player Transfers Contribute to €30.5m Profit
Alongside competition income, Freiburg identified significant profits from player transfers as another major contributor to its financial performance.
Net profit increased from €11.8 million to €30.5 million, representing a year-on-year improvement of €18.7 million.
The club also reported continued growth across its other revenue categories, although it did not publish individual figures for sponsorship, broadcasting, matchday operations or merchandising in the announcement.
Oliver Leki, SC Freiburg Executive Board Member for Finance, Organisation and Marketing, said:
“Reaching the Europa League final in Istanbul and the DFB-Pokal semi-finals – and the revenue generated from both competitions – as well as significant profits from player transfers all made a major contribution.”
He also highlighted the continued development of the club's underlying revenue streams and its approach to expenditure.
The result illustrates the financial contribution of sporting performance and player trading, two areas that can fluctuate considerably between seasons.
Equity Rises to €194.2m as Freiburg Remains Free of Bank Debt
As of June 30, 2026, shareholders' equity stood at €194.2 million, up from €163.7 million a year earlier.
Total assets increased from €197.9 million to €244.7 million, reflecting a larger balance sheet following the profitable financial year.
The figures imply an equity ratio of approximately 79.4%, compared with 82.7% in 2024/25. Although the ratio declined slightly as total assets expanded, Freiburg continued to finance a substantial proportion of its asset base through equity.
The club also confirmed that it remains free of bank debt.
