Venezia FC presented its new Third Jersey during the Regata Storica, Venice’s most iconic rowing event with origins tracing back to the 13th century. The occasion underlined the club’s efforts to integrate its identity with the cultural and sporting traditions of the city.
Cultural Context Venezia FC Regata Storica
The Regata Storica is both a historical commemoration and a sporting spectacle. Each year, it begins with a procession recreating the 1489 arrival of Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus, with participants in traditional costumes aboard 16th-century vessels, including the ceremonial Bucintoro.
The regatta features a full programme of races in the voga alla veneta style, ranging from youth competitions in mascarete to the six-oared caorline and the prestigious gondolini race, which remains the highlight of the event.
Venezia FC’s Participation
During this year’s celebration, a crew from Società Canottieri Treporti paraded along the Grand Canal wearing Venezia FC’s 2025/26 Third Jersey. The gesture symbolically linked Venice’s centuries-old rowing tradition with the football club’s modern identity, placing the club’s arancioneroverdi colours within the city’s most visible cultural showcase.
Strategic Significance
For Venezia FC, participation in the Regata Storica reinforces its positioning as both a football club and a cultural ambassador for Venice. By aligning itself with one of the city’s most recognisable events, the club strengthens its brand visibility and deepens its connection to the local community and international visitors.
