AFC Bournemouth has received planning permission approval for the redevelopment of Vitality Stadium, marking a major step in the club’s long-term infrastructure strategy under owner Bill Foley.

The approval was granted by the BCP Council and allows the club to move forward with plans to modernise and expand the stadium while improving the surrounding infrastructure around the Kings Park area.

According to the club, the redevelopment project is designed to increase stadium capacity, improve supporter experience and upgrade facilities for fans, players, staff and commercial partners.

Stadium Expansion Remains Central to Bournemouth’s Growth Strategy

For AFC Bournemouth, the redevelopment represents one of the most important structural projects since the club’s rise to the Premier League. Vitality Stadium is currently one of the smallest venues in top-flight English football, limiting matchday revenue potential compared to larger Premier League clubs.

The redevelopment is therefore expected to play a significant role in Bournemouth’s broader commercial growth strategy, particularly across ticketing, hospitality, sponsorship and premium matchday experiences.

The project also forms part of owner Bill Foley’s wider vision of strengthening the club’s long-term competitiveness both on and off the pitch.

Wider Infrastructure Improvements Planned Around Kings Park Bournemouth

Beyond the stadium itself, the wider redevelopment scheme includes improvements to the surrounding public infrastructure. The club confirmed plans for enhanced pedestrian and cycling routes, landscaping works and accessibility upgrades around the stadium campus.

Modern stadium projects increasingly extend beyond football operations alone, with clubs attempting to create broader destination environments connected to entertainment, mobility and community use. For Bournemouth, the redevelopment is also positioned as an economic and urban-development project linked to the wider local area.

Executive Comment

AFC Bournemouth owner Bill Foley described the approval as a key moment in the club’s long-term vision.

“This project is about far more than a stadium.”

Foley added that the redevelopment is intended to strengthen the club’s connection with supporters, invest in the local community and support AFC Bournemouth’s ability to compete at the highest level in the future.
