Hannover 96 has opened Gate 96, a permanent branded experience space at Hannover Airport, extending the club's physical presence to one of the city's main transport hubs.
Located on the departures level between Terminals A and B, Gate 96 combines multimedia club content with elements designed to recreate a stadium atmosphere for passengers and airport visitors.
Gate 96 Brings the Club Into the Airport Hannover
The project forms part of Hannover Airport's wider strategy to introduce more local culture and entertainment into its public terminal areas. For Hannover 96, it creates a year-round brand touchpoint outside the stadium and provides exposure to both local supporters and visitors arriving from elsewhere in Germany and abroad.
Hannover Airport serves more than five million passengers, including business travellers, trade fair visitors and international guests. For many visitors, the airport represents either their first physical interaction with Hannover or their final one before leaving the city.
Hannover Airport Builds Local Identity Into Terminal Experience
The initiative is also part of a broader activation concept being developed by Hannover Airport. The airport is introducing local identity into its terminal areas as it looks to combine passenger experience, entertainment and destination communication.
Gate 96 follows the opening of the SCORPIONS Rockstage in 2025, another entertainment concept drawing on a well-known Hannover brand. The strategy positions the terminal as a space that can communicate the identity of the city alongside its core transport function.
Hannover 96 describes strengthening its connection with the city and surrounding region as one of its objectives. An airport installation gives the club a platform that operates independently of the football calendar and remains accessible outside matchdays.
