Vancouver Whitecaps FC have announced a partnership with Sports Interactive, becoming the first Major League Soccer club to formally collaborate with the creators of Football Manager. The deal grants the club access to FMDB Pro, Sports Interactive’s professional-grade data platform used by clubs and federations worldwide for scouting, benchmarking and player-performance evaluation.
The move signals a continued shift in North American football toward data-driven recruitment models, aligning MLS clubs more closely with European methodologies where evidence-based scouting tools have become standard.
FMDB Pro: A Scouting Database With Global Football Coverage Vancouver Whitecaps
Sports Interactive’s FMDB Pro platform integrates tens of thousands of player reports, performance indicators and contextual data collected globally by the company’s research network — one of the largest in professional football.
While MLS clubs already have access to league-wide data and analytics systems, FMDB Pro offers:
• extensive international player coverage,
• comparative benchmarking tools,
• market-value projections and career-trajectory modelling,
• and cross-league performance indicators traditionally used by European clubs.
For Vancouver, the platform provides an expanded evidence base at a time when MLS recruitment increasingly focuses on maximising value from under-scouted markets.
