As reported by Munich-Startup.de, Munich-based foodtech company Precision Labs has secured more than €4 million in seed financing, attracting investors from venture capital, the food industry and elite professional sport. Among the athletes participating in the round are FC Bayern München players Serge Gnabry and Joshua Kimmich, who expand their investment portfolios into the growing dairy-alternative segment.
The oversubscribed round includes Elemental, entrepreneurs Stefan Tewes, Marc-Aurel Boersch and Mic Weigl, as well as several other athletes such as İlkay Gündoğan (currently Galatasaray), Dominic Thiem, Laura Philipp and Malaika Mihambo. For Precision Labs, the capital provides resources for brand expansion, product development and market entry in Germany and Austria.
A Product Approach Focused on Dairy Alternatives Precision Labs
Precision Labs is developing a new category of dairy-alternative products that combine milk protein with plant-based ingredients. The company emphasises taste, texture and functional qualities such as foaming—attributes often cited as barriers in the plant-based beverage market. The startup positions its product line as a rethinking of traditional dairy categories rather than a direct replacement.
Funding will support:
• continued research and development,
• scaling of production,
• expansion of distribution channels,
• and broader brand-building efforts in its initial target markets.
The company is also exploring additional product formats within the dairy-alternative space.
Why Top Athletes Are Backing the Company
The inclusion of Kimmich and Gnabry highlights growing athlete interest in consumer health and nutrition businesses. Investments of this type offer players exposure to a segment with rising consumer demand, while aligning with personal performance and wellness priorities.
Malaika Mihambo, Olympic champion and fellow investor, noted that she values products that combine nutritional considerations with daily functionality—reflecting a motivation shared by several athlete participants.
Investor Perspective From the Food Industry
Marc-Aurel Boersch, former CEO of Nestlé Germany and an investor in the round, stated that Precision Labs’ approach has the potential to introduce a distinct category within the dairy market. His involvement points to increasing crossover between established food executives and early-stage innovation in the dairy-alternative segment.
Elemental, the VC firm in the round, described the founding team as aligned with the firm’s investment focus on health-oriented consumer categories.
Initial Market Access and Distribution
Precision Labs’ first products are already available through its online shop and selected Edeka supermarkets in southern Germany and Hamburg. A broader rollout in Germany and expansion into Austria are planned as production scales.
Future product lines are expected to include additional dairy-alternative formats such as milk-based drinks, yoghurt substitutes, and cheese alternatives.
