Kevin Durant, one of the most accomplished athletes in NBA history and an increasingly active sports investor, has acquired a direct minority stake in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The move was announced as part of a new strategic partnership agreement between Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) — PSG’s majority owner — and Boardroom Sports Holdings, Durant’s investment vehicle.

The agreement represents an expansion of Durant’s involvement in PSG, following his initial entry in 2024 through Arctos Partners, another minority shareholder in the club. The new structure sees Durant take a direct equity position, enabling him to co-develop commercial, media, and social impact initiatives with PSG and QSI.

The collaboration goes beyond equity. Through Boardroom — Durant’s media and investment platform co-founded with longtime business partner Rich Kleiman — the parties will work on a series of initiatives, including:

  • Merchandise development for global audiences

  • Original content and media production, potentially across digital, documentary, and OTT platforms

  • Community engagement, through PSG for Communities, the club’s philanthropic and grassroots foundation

  • Advisory support for PSG’s U.S. market strategy

  • Consulting on multi-sport expansion, including potential ventures into basketball

This is the first time a high-profile U.S. athlete has taken a direct ownership stake in PSG, and the move aligns with the club’s increasing focus on transatlantic brand development. Kevin Durant Paris Saint-Germain Qatar Sports Investments

Executive Perspectives

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Chairman of Qatar Sports Investments, welcomed Durant as a strategic partner:

“We continually seek to elevate the Club and our broader portfolio through high-impact partnerships that bring strategic value, innovation, and global perspective. Together with Kevin, we look forward to developing ambitious initiatives that will drive the continued global growth of Paris Saint-Germain and QSI.”

Kevin Durant, commenting on the deal, noted:

“It is an honour to partner with QSI and be a shareholder in Paris Saint-Germain — a Club and a city that is so close to my heart. This club has big plans ahead, and I can’t wait to be a part of the next phase of growth.”

Strategic Implications: U.S. Market, Cross-Sport Synergy

The partnership underscores PSG’s broader strategy to diversify its global footprint, with a particular emphasis on the United States, where the club has increased its presence through digital content, retail activations, and now equity partnerships.

Durant, through Boardroom, has also made previous investments in Major League Soccer (MLS), National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), and other global sports entities — making him an increasingly influential stakeholder in international sport and media convergence.

The potential expansion of PSG into basketball or other sports formats reflects a multi-asset approach by QSI, aiming to mirror models seen in U.S.-based sports ownership groups with holdings across multiple leagues and disciplines.
