Manchester City has confirmed that the new entertainment district under development at the Etihad Campus will be named Medlock Square. The project forms part of the next phase of infrastructure expansion around the Etihad Stadium and is designed to function as a year-round destination for supporters and visitors beyond matchdays.

Stadium Expansion and Premium Capacity

At the centre of the development is the expansion of the Etihad Stadium’s North Stand, which will increase the venue’s capacity through the addition of approximately 7,000 new seats.

At least 3,000 of those seats will be configured as rail seating, reflecting the growing adoption of safe standing areas across English stadiums. The expansion also includes new premium hospitality bars and fan spaces intended to broaden the stadium’s commercial inventory.

Medlock Square will integrate multiple commercial and fan-facing assets across the Etihad Campus.

The development includes:

• a new flagship Manchester City retail store

• a covered fan activation area with capacity for approximately 3,000 people

• an expanded museum experience highlighting club history

• a range of food and beverage outlets ranging from casual dining to premium hospitality

The project also incorporates a new Medlock Hotel, offering rooms overlooking the pitch and allowing supporters to stay directly within the stadium district.

Experience-Based Attractions

Beyond traditional stadium infrastructure, Manchester City is introducing experiential attractions designed to operate independently of matchdays. These include a stadium roof walk experience, as well as abseiling and zipline activities from the stadium structure, providing panoramic views across Manchester.

Executive Comment

Danny Wilson, Managing Director of Manchester City Operations, said:

“Medlock Square represents the next step in our long-term commitment to the regeneration of East Manchester and the continued development of world-class facilities at the Etihad Campus. The new facilities and experiences will give fans more ways than ever to enjoy the Etihad on matchdays and beyond and establish Medlock Square as an unrivalled entertainment destination.”
