Luton Town Football Club has announced a major milestone in its long-term development plans with the confirmation that construction of its new 25,000-capacity stadium at Power Court will begin this summer. The club’s development company, 2020 Developments, has selected Limak International, a globally active infrastructure specialist, as its construction partner.

Stadium Construction Begins After Years of Planning

The Power Court stadium project, first envisioned over a decade ago, will now enter the building phase, with the goal of hosting its first competitive match at the new venue at the start of the 2028/29 season. This development is considered a transformative step for the club, supporting ambitions to re-establish Luton Town as a stable presence in the Premier League while enhancing the matchday experience for supporters.

The decision to move forward comes after extensive planning and consultation. The new facility, located in central Luton, is intended to be one of the most environmentally sustainable stadiums in the UK, reflecting the club’s vision for future-focused infrastructure rooted in local identity.

Limak International: Global Experience, Local Impact

Limak International, a subsidiary of Turkey-based Limak Holding, brings deep experience to the project, including its ongoing work on FC Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou redevelopment, and major contracts across Europe and the Middle East. Ranked 48th globally by ENR in 2024, the firm has recently been involved in high-profile developments such as the Dubai Metro Blue Line, NEOM Project in Saudi Arabia, and the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge.

Their appointment signals Luton Town’s intention to align with top-tier engineering standards, while ensuring local relevance through community-focused delivery.

Broader Regeneration Beyond Football Luton Town Stadium

While the stadium is the headline feature, the Power Court project represents a larger urban regeneration effort. Plans include:

• Residential development (new housing units)

• Hotel and commercial infrastructure

• Public spaces and transport upgrades

• Over 1,000 permanent jobs created long-term

• Hundreds of jobs during the construction phase

Local stakeholders, including the Luton Borough Council and elected officials, have publicly backed the development as a catalyst for regional growth, not just a football-related investment.

Strategic and Commercial Implications

From a business standpoint, the Power Court project offers multiple benefits for Luton Town FC:

• Long-term revenue growth from increased capacity and enhanced hospitality

• Stronger commercial appeal to sponsors and media partners

• A modern venue suitable for international events, concerts, and non-matchday use

• Stability and credibility to attract investment, both in football operations and infrastructure

Club CEO Gary Sweet emphasized that the stadium will “root the club in the community” while allowing Luton to grow its fanbase and commercial potential.
