Lionel Messi has retained the top position in Major League Soccer's most popular player jersey rankings for the fourth consecutive season, while summer arrivals Robert Lewandowski and Antoine Griezmann have entered the top five, according to figures released by MLS on November 3, 2026.
The rankings place Inter Miami CF's Messi first, followed by LAFC's Son Heung-Min and Vancouver Whitecaps FC's Thomas Müller. Chicago Fire FC's Lewandowski ranks fourth, ahead of Orlando City SC's Griezmann in fifth.
Lewandowski has recorded the league's most popular jersey since joining Chicago Fire in June, despite finishing fourth in the overall 2026 rankings. The distinction reflects the difference between demand during the period following his arrival and the full-season standings.
International Signings Dominate MLS Jersey Rankings MLS
The top five features players representing five different MLS clubs, with the league's recent international signings occupying four of those positions.
Lewandowski and Griezmann both joined during the summer transfer window, yet finished among the five most popular player jerseys of the year. Their positions follow the arrivals of Son Heung-Min and Thomas Müller, who rank second and third, respectively.
Messi's fourth consecutive first-place finish extends his position at the top of the rankings since joining Inter Miami in 2023.
Inter Miami also leads the league in representation, placing three players in the top 10: Messi, Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul. LAFC follows with two players, Son Heung-Min and Denis Bouanga.
Cavan Sullivan Ranks Sixth at Age 17
Philadelphia Union midfielder Cavan Sullivan is the highest-ranked American player on the list, finishing sixth at 17 years old.
Sullivan's position follows a breakout 2026 season in which he became the youngest player in MLS history to receive Player of the Month honours, earning the award in September.
He also became the youngest goalscorer in U.S. men's national team history during a 3-0 victory over Mexico in October.
His inclusion places an emerging domestic player alongside some of the league's most established international names, including four FIFA World Cup winners: Messi, Müller, Griezmann and De Paul.
