LFP Media has announced that Ligue 1+, the official OTT platform of French professional clubs, has exceeded one million subscribers just weeks into the 2025/26 season. The milestone surpasses the platform’s initial target for the entire season, with 1.026 million subscriptions recorded by 14 September.
Factors Driving Growth
The rapid growth is attributed to three main elements:
Strong attachment to Ligue 1 McDonald’s and French clubs
Immersive editorial content created with the support of clubs
Effective hyper-distribution across streaming and broadcast partners
According to LFP Media, the achievement reflects the trust placed by supporters in a platform designed as the “home of French football, clubs and fans.”
Immersive Content Strategy Ligue 1+ One Million Subscribers
From launch, Ligue 1+ positioned itself as more than a broadcast service, aiming to provide behind-the-scenes access and storytelling around Ligue 1. Exclusive formats include:
Weekly magazines Kick-off, 90+1, and Ligue 1+ Le Club
Original digital productions, such as the documentary Identité covering the OL–OM rivalry
The editorial approach frames Ligue 1 McDonald’s as a continuous narrative, emphasising both sporting action and human stories that shape the league.
Broad Distribution Model
The subscription surge also reflects a multi-channel distribution network coordinated with major technology and media partners. The Ligue 1+ app is available on Samsung, LG, Google, Apple, and FireTV, while distribution has been integrated into services such as DAZN, Prime Video, RMC Sport, Molotov, Orange, Free, SFR, and Bouygues Telecom.
Bundled offers and targeted marketing campaigns from partners further accelerated penetration in the French and international markets. Notably, 72% of subscribers committed to a full-season package.
