Inter has announced the launch of Inter Academy Malta, marking a new step in the club’s international development strategy and further strengthening its presence in the European grassroots football landscape.

The initiative forms part of Inter’s broader academy network, which focuses on exporting the club’s methodology, technical standards and brand identity into key international markets. In this case, Malta represents a strategically aligned location where Inter already maintains strong commercial and cultural connections.

Building a Structured Grassroots Platform in Malta Inter Milan

The new academy will be based at the Marsa Sports Complex, with a phased rollout designed to expand its reach across the country over time. Initial activities will begin this summer through training camps led by Inter Academy coaches from Milan, before transitioning into a full-season programme from September.

The project will target players aged 5 to 14, offering structured development pathways for both boys and girls. From a technical standpoint, the academy will implement Inter’s training methodology, focusing on long-term player development, coaching education and consistency in delivery across age groups.

Leveraging Existing Market Connections

Malta is not a new market for Inter, and the academy launch reflects a strategy of deepening existing relationships rather than entering untested territories. The club already benefits from a strong local footprint, supported by an established fanbase, official supporter clubs and commercial ties.

The presence of Betsson. Sport, Inter’s Official Main Partner, with operations linked to Malta, further strengthens the strategic relevance of the market. In addition, the connection is reinforced on a sporting level through Malta international Haley Bugeja, who plays for Inter Women.
