FC Midtjylland has announced the launch of FCM Next Generation, a new international talent project designed to accelerate the development of some of the club’s most promising players. The initiative will gather top prospects from the 2006 and 2007 age groups into a full-time professional environment, complementing the club’s existing Dream99 academy structure.
Global Development Focus FC Midtjylland
Over the next year, the new squad will travel internationally to compete in tournaments and participate in training programs across different football cultures. Activities have already been scheduled in Brazil and Spain.
The program has started with test matches against clubs including Hvidovre, IFK Göteborg, B93, and Vejle Boldklub, recording two wins, one draw, and one defeat.
Transition to Senior Football
The project is specifically targeted at “transition players” — those on the verge of senior football. By combining FC Midtjylland’s established playing style with individual development priorities, the initiative aims to strengthen technical, physical, and personal skills.
Svend Graversen, Director of International Affairs and Academies, explained:
“We want to create an environment where we can accelerate the development of our top talents by matching them against opponents from all over the world and exposing them to different football cultures. This will provide skills that significantly strengthen their transition to senior football.”
He added that the program emphasizes not only sporting growth but also personal responsibility, cultural understanding, and communication skills to prepare players for international football careers.
Long-Term Ambitions
The ultimate goal of FCM Next Generation is to produce players capable of competing directly for spots in the first team.
“Our aim is to lift more of our top talents to a level where they can compete for a place in the first team. That requires us to think differently and provide the best possible platform. That is exactly what FCM Next Generation is about,” said Graversen.
