Eintracht Frankfurt has expanded its presence in Japan by signing a strategic partnership with Iwaki FC, reinforcing the Bundesliga club's long-term international development strategy in one of Asia's most important football markets.
The agreement focuses on sporting collaboration, player development, scouting and organisational knowledge sharing between the two clubs.
A Partnership Built Around Talent Development Eintracht Frankfurt
According to both clubs, the cooperation will centre on several strategic areas, including:
Player development
Scouting collaboration
Coaching exchange
Sporting expertise
Club management and organisational development
While international club partnerships have become increasingly common, many now extend well beyond occasional youth tournaments or commercial exchanges. Instead, they are evolving into long-term knowledge-sharing platforms designed to improve sporting performance while strengthening international recruitment networks.
Japan Remains a Strategic Market
For Eintracht Frankfurt, the agreement further strengthens an international strategy that already includes a long-standing partnership with Urawa Red Diamonds. The addition of Iwaki FC expands the club's footprint within Japan and complements an existing regional network rather than replacing previous collaborations.
Japan continues to attract growing attention from European clubs due to the quality of its player development system, strong football infrastructure and increasing number of players successfully transitioning to European football.
The partnership also provides Frankfurt with another pathway for identifying talent across both Japan and the wider Asian market.
Executive Comments
Iwaki FC President Satoshi Okura described the agreement as an important milestone in the club's international development.
"Our players and coaches will benefit enormously from this collaboration – both on and off the pitch."
Eintracht Frankfurt Board Member for Sport Markus Krösche said the partnership would create new opportunities for both clubs while strengthening Frankfurt's ability to identify talent from Japan and across Asia at an early stage.
"This initiative will help us identify talent from Japan and across Asia at an early stage while sharing our sporting and organizational expertise."
