As Burnley FC prepares for the 2025/26 Premier League season, the club has unveiled plans for a series of structural and experiential improvements to Turf Moor, aimed at boosting both matchday atmosphere and fan engagement.
The initiative follows consultation with the Fan Advisory Board and reflects the club’s broader strategy to elevate the matchday experience for home and away supporters. Burnley FC Stadium
Fan-Driven Transformation
The new developments were made possible in part due to Burnley’s return to England’s top flight. Chairman Alan Pace acknowledged the significance of the upgrade:
“We’re all counting down the days to the start of the Premier League season and these enhancements to Turf Moor make our return even more eagerly anticipated. Stadium improvements have been high on the agenda for the Board for some time, but our promotion to the Premier League has allowed us to accelerate these plans,” said Pace.
The first phase of upgrades will be introduced ahead of Burnley’s opening home fixture against Sunderland on August 23. While still subject to planning approval, the early rollout is intended to minimize operational disruption once the season is underway.
Key Infrastructure Updates Burnley FC Stadium
Burnley has outlined several logistical and structural changes as part of the Turf Moor upgrade:
New Player Arrival Route: Teams will now enter via Harry Potts Way, with a newly designated arrivals area in the North-East corner. This reconfiguration is designed to create a more immersive pre-match event for fans.
Tunnel Relocation: The players’ tunnel will move from the North-West to the South-West corner to better align with updated fan flow and enhance the matchday walk-out presentation.
Barnfield Stand Configuration: The home and away supporter areas within the Barnfield Stand will be reversed, a move aimed at intensifying the crowd atmosphere during walk-outs.
Away Fan Turnstiles: Entry for away supporters will be relocated to the North-West corner of the stadium.
These changes are designed to improve the physical flow of fans throughout the stadium, enhance pre-match rituals, and encourage a closer emotional connection between players and supporters.
Long-Term Matchday Experience Strategy
Additional enhancements are planned throughout the season to further modernize Turf Moor and increase fan value. These will include upgrades to facilities and continued investment in community-focused activations.
Manager Scott Parker echoed the importance of fan support as Burnley returns to Premier League football:
“Turf Moor is a fantastic place to be on matchdays. The fans help create an incredible atmosphere, particularly during the run-in to promotion last season, and I’m sure these enhancements will only serve to improve things further,” Parker said.
“We’ll need Turf Moor to be a fortress for us this season – and we’re all excited about seeing the new changes implemented over the coming months.”
