Borussia Mönchengladbach has launched a new Indonesian-language Instagram account, marking a targeted step in the club’s international digital expansion strategy.
The move reflects a broader effort to localise content for specific global markets, using language, cultural relevance and player connections to strengthen engagement beyond Germany.
Targeting Indonesia as a High-Potential Football Market Borussia
The new channel focuses on Indonesia, one of the largest and most football-engaged markets globally, with a population approaching 300 million.
A central element of the strategy is the presence of Kevin Diks, the first Indonesian player in Bundesliga history. Since joining Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2025, Diks has become a natural bridge between the club and Indonesian fans, providing a culturally relevant entry point into the market.
Expanding a Multi-Language Digital Ecosystem
The Indonesian account becomes Borussia’s fourth actively managed foreign-language social media channel, alongside existing English, Japanese and Chinese platforms. This expansion highlights a structured approach to digital internationalisation, where content is adapted for different regions rather than distributed uniformly across a single global channel.
