Borussia Dortmund has entered into a premium partnership with Lenovo, appointing the technology group as the club’s Official AI Innovation Partner. The agreement focuses on integrating artificial intelligence–ready hardware and computing infrastructure into Borussia Dortmund’s sporting and administrative operations.

AI Infrastructure Integrated Into Club Operations Borussia Dortmund

At the centre of the agreement is the deployment of Lenovo’s AI-capable hardware ecosystem, including PCs, workstations, servers and collaboration solutions. These systems will be integrated at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK and the club’s headquarters, supporting data analytics, internal workflows and performance-related processes.

Data Processing and Decision Support

Borussia Dortmund has signalled that AI-enabled computing will be used to accelerate data analysis and support faster decision-making in time-sensitive contexts. In elite football environments, where performance, logistics and planning are increasingly data-driven, computing capacity and processing speed have become critical operational assets.

The collaboration reflects a broader shift among top clubs toward treating technology infrastructure as a competitive enabler, not only for match preparation but also for business intelligence, planning and internal coordination.

Executive Comments

Mirco Krebs, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer EMEA at Lenovo, said:

“Technology can make a decisive difference, not only in business but also in elite sport. As Borussia Dortmund’s AI Innovation Partner, we are bringing AI-capable hardware into environments where decisions are made in seconds and reliability is essential.”

Carsten Cramer, Speaker of the Management Board at Borussia Dortmund, added:

“Borussia Dortmund stands for tradition, but also for progress. We believe modern technology can help us improve across the organisation, both on the pitch and off it. This partnership with Lenovo reflects a shared ambition to use technology in a purposeful and structured way.”

Technology Partnerships as Long-Term Capability Building

The Lenovo agreement aligns with Borussia Dortmund’s ongoing digital transformation strategy, which prioritises scalable infrastructure over short-term technology projects. By focusing on hardware and system capability, the club is investing in a foundation that can support multiple use cases as data volumes and analytical demands increase.

For Lenovo, the partnership provides a real-world elite sports environment in which its AI-ready systems are embedded into daily operations, rather than limited to showcase or pilot scenarios.
