Atlético de Madrid has surpassed 100 million followers across its social media platforms, becoming one of the largest football brands in the digital landscape.

The club added 14 million followers over the past year, highlighting the growing importance of social media audiences as a commercial and strategic asset for football organisations.

A Younger Audience Shapes the Future Madrid

According to Atlético de Madrid, 77% of its followers across platforms including Instagram, TikTok and X are under the age of 34.

From a business perspective, this may be the most significant figure in the announcement. Younger audiences are increasingly consuming football through digital channels rather than traditional television broadcasts. They are also more likely to engage with clubs through short-form video, creator content, gaming, social commerce and mobile-first experiences.

Atlético de Madrid thanked supporters for helping the club reach the milestone and highlighted the role of fan participation in building its digital community. The club described its online audience as sharing many of the characteristics of its membership base, which now exceeds 160,000 members, and pointed to the youthfulness of both groups as a positive indicator for future growth.
