WSL Football has announced a collaboration with Apple, aiming to support the technological framework of the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship (formerly WSL 2). The initiative is designed to modernize the way the game is played, coached, and managed—enhancing performance, analysis, and officiating across both leagues.
Transforming the Women’s Game Through Technology
The partnership introduces Apple’s latest suite of products—including the MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and AirPods Pro 3—to clubs, coaches, analysts, and match officials. These tools will enable real-time performance analysis, improve matchday communication, and streamline administrative processes.
Clubs will have access to multiple iPads on the sidelines for tactical use, enabling instant video review and data analysis. Analysts will utilize the MacBook Pro for live clipping and feedback, while coaching and performance staff will communicate seamlessly through AirPods Pro 3 and the iPhone 17 Pro.
For officials, the iPad Air will digitize key matchday operations, including team sheet exchanges and in-game reporting, improving efficiency and transparency across both divisions.
A Shared Vision for Innovation Apple WSL Football
Zarah Al-Kudcy, Chief Revenue Officer of WSL Football, described the collaboration as a pivotal step toward competitive equality and professional excellence:
“At its core, this is a collaboration grounded in a shared ambition to drive meaningful transformation. Apple’s products will help reduce disparities in club technology access, providing tools that empower teams to elevate performance and create a more level playing field across the leagues.”
The initiative supports WSL Football’s stated vision to build the most distinctive, competitive, and entertaining women’s club competition in the world, aligning technology with sporting progress.
Apple’s Continued Role in Sports Innovation
Apple has previously partnered with global sports organizations such as Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, and the World Surf League, applying its products and ecosystem to improve athletic performance and fan engagement.
Scott Brodrick, Worldwide Product Marketing Manager at Apple, said:
“We are thrilled to work with WSL Football to help every player, coach, analyst, and official elevate their game with Apple. Our aim is to enable innovation both on and off the pitch, and we’re excited to see how our technology can contribute to the continued rise of women’s football.”
Driving Professional Standards in Women’s Football
The collaboration addresses a long-standing challenge within women’s football—disparity in access to high-performance technology—by ensuring that every club, regardless of budget or infrastructure, can utilize the same digital tools and systems.
The integration of Apple technology into WSL Football operations is expected to improve:
• Tactical preparation and player development through real-time analysis
• In-game communication between analysts and coaches
• Administrative efficiency on matchdays• Overall broadcast and fan experience, through enhanced data-driven storytelling
