Widzew Lodz S.A., one of Poland’s most historically significant football clubs, has confirmed a major ownership change, with Robert Dobrzycki becoming the club’s majority shareholder. The investment agreement was signed on Friday, March 28, marking a new chapter in the club’s organizational and financial structure.
Majority Stake Acquired to Accelerate Sporting and Organizational Growth
Under the terms of the agreement, Dobrzycki’s investment entity will acquire 76.06% of the club’s shares. This acquisition is structured through a capital injection of 13.4 million PLN and a partial buyout of shares from Tomasz Stamirowski, who will remain a significant stakeholder with over 20% of shares.
With the newly acquired stake, Dobrzycki will have full operational decision-making authority within the club. The Supervisory Board will be restructured to consist of seven members, four of whom will be appointed by the investor.
Strategic Objectives: Financial Stability and Sporting Advancement
According to the official club statement, the primary aim of the investment is to establish a sustainable foundation across financial, infrastructural, and organizational areas. The long-term objective is to enable Widzew Łódź to compete in European competitions, with accelerated development toward that goal now a key part of the club’s strategy.
The agreement was signed between Tomasz Stamirowski, Robert Dobrzycki, the management of the Widzew Lodz joint-stock company, and the Reaktywacja Tradycji Sportowych (RTS) Association.
Shareholder Meeting and Next Steps Widzew Lodz
On the same day, an Extraordinary General Meeting of shareholders was held to initiate the execution of the agreement’s provisions. Further details about the terms and strategic roadmap will be announced during an upcoming press conference, the date of which is yet to be confirmed.
Until then, the parties involved have agreed not to issue further media statements, as per the joint communication policy.
