FC Barcelona has completed a €105 million bond issuance, raising long-term financing through a ten-year offering that attracted strong demand from international institutional investors.
The Senior Secured Notes, which mature in October 2036, carry a fixed coupon of 5.14%. According to the club, the transaction was more than twice oversubscribed and the entire issue was placed in less than two hours among a selected group of U.S. investors, including insurance companies, investment funds and pension funds.
The transaction was arranged by Goldman Sachs, which acted as lead manager and placement agent.
Strong Demand From Institutional Investors FC Barcelona
The speed of the placement and the level of oversubscription indicate continued investor appetite for FC Barcelona's debt despite the club's well-documented financial challenges in recent years.
According to the club, demand exceeded the amount offered by more than 200%, allowing the full €105 million issuance to be completed within two hours.
The investor base consisted primarily of large institutional investors in the United States rather than retail participants, reflecting the club's continued access to international capital markets.
Financing Supports Long-Term Strategy
FC Barcelona said the proceeds from the issuance will be used to strengthen the club's cash position while supporting the execution of its broader strategic plan.
The financing forms part of the club's ongoing efforts to improve its financial position while continuing long-term investment initiatives.
The club also highlighted an improvement in financing conditions compared with its previous issuance.
According to FC Barcelona, the market spread declined from 240 basis points to 202 basis points, indicating that investors required a lower risk premium than in the previous transaction.
Executive Perspective
FC Barcelona said the successful placement reinforces international investors' confidence in the club's financial strategy and long-term growth project.
The club also stated that the improved financing conditions reflect stronger market confidence in its ability to execute its strategic plan while continuing its financial consolidation.
