West Ham United has announced plans to begin a supporter consultation on the future of the club's official crest, opening a multi-year process that could result in the first redesign of the badge since 2016.
The consultation, which coincides with the anniversary of the formation of Thames Ironworks FC in 1895, places supporters at the centre of any potential changes and reflects the growing importance clubs attach to fan involvement in brand identity decisions.
Any new crest would come into effect from the start of the 2028/29 season.
A Supporter-Led Approach to Club Identity West Ham United
The consultation will begin with discussions involving West Ham United's Fan Advisory Board (FAB).
Subject to positive feedback, the process will then expand to a wider supporter group, including:
2026/27 men's and women's season ticket holders
2026/27 Claret Members
Supporters who attended more than five home matches during the 2025/26 season
The club intends to develop design concepts based on supporter feedback before asking eligible fans to vote on the preferred option.
The consultation will continue throughout the 2026/27 season.
West Ham's current crest was introduced in 2016 to coincide with the club's move to London Stadium.
Ten years later, the club believes the timing is appropriate to review whether the badge continues to reflect its history and identity.
Executive Comments
Interim Chief Executive Officer Karim Virani said the club wants supporters to play the leading role throughout the process.
“The Board and I want to ensure that the Club’s history and heritage are appropriately reflected in everything we do, and that our loyal fans should play a leading role in determining how that is delivered.”
Virani also confirmed that the Fan Advisory Board will act independently throughout the consultation process.
