Valencia CF has announced an agreement with Octopus Energy, which becomes the ‘Sustainable Founding Partner’ of the Nou Mestalla. The partnership focuses on turning the stadium into a symbol of environmental sustainability by installing a solar energy system on the roof and introducing clean energy solutions for the facility and surrounding community.

Under the agreement, Octopus Energy will install solar panels on the stadium roof and charging stations for electric vehicles around the Nou Mestalla. The system is designed to power the stadium’s operations year-round, not only on matchdays, and to promote a sustainable mobility model in Valencia.

The energy company will also manage the green power supply through a smart system that optimises performance and minimises environmental impact. According to the club, the project will help prevent the emission of approximately 185 tonnes of CO2 annually.

Broader Sustainability Strategy

The partnership builds on the collaboration between Valencia CF and Octopus Energy, which began two years ago. In 2024, the company installed a self-consumption solar project at the club’s Ciudad Deportiva training facility, supplying around 30% of its energy needs. The Nou Mestalla initiative represents the next step in expanding that sustainability commitment.

Leadership Comments

Javier Solís, General Director of Valencia CF, said:

“With Octopus Energy at our side, the Nou Mestalla will be a benchmark in energy efficiency and in the use of green energy. This alliance as Founding Partner represents much more than a sponsorship: it means adding a strategic partner that, from the beginning, will share our vision of the future and our commitment to sustainability.”

Roberto Giner, CEO of Octopus Energy Spain, added:

“It is an honour to become Founding Partner of Valencia CF at the Nou Mestalla, with which we will bring 100% renewable energy to a stadium that is and will be an icon of the city. Together we are making the Nou Mestalla an example of efficiency and respect for the planet.”
