RCD Espanyol de Barcelona has launched a long-term waste management project at the RCDE Stadium and across the club's facilities, working with Corporación Everest and ECOTIC to improve waste collection, separation and treatment.
The initiative will initially focus on operational changes around the stadium, particularly on matchdays, when higher attendance creates larger volumes of waste and places additional demands on venue infrastructure.
Espanyol has positioned the programme as part of a gradual move towards a zero-waste model, combining operational improvements with staff training and supporter engagement.
Corporación Everest and ECOTIC Join the Project RCD Espanyol
Espanyol will develop the programme alongside Corporación Everest and ECOTIC.
The project is described as a long-term initiative, with measures expected to be introduced progressively instead of through a single infrastructure overhaul.

Internal club employees will receive specific training as part of the programme, bringing waste management procedures into everyday stadium and organisational operations.
That operational component will be accompanied by initiatives aimed at Espanyol members and supporters.
Supporters Included in Sustainability Strategy
The club plans to introduce awareness campaigns encouraging supporters to participate in improved waste separation and other sustainability measures.
For stadium sustainability programmes, supporter behaviour can be particularly important. Infrastructure can provide separate collection points, but the effectiveness of those systems also depends on how spectators use them during high-volume matchday periods.
Espanyol therefore intends to combine changes to physical waste infrastructure with communication and education.
