Lisbon, Athens, and Wroclaw to Host Upcoming UEFA Football Finals.

On June 29, it was announced by UEFA's executive committee that Lisbon will play host to the 2025 Women’s Champions League final. This marks a return of a major final to Portugal and specifically to the Estadio Jose Alvalade, following the 2020 and 2021 Champions League finals.

In related news, Athens and Wroclaw have been selected as the venues for the 2024 and 2025 Europa Conference League finals, respectively. The final match at the Agia Sofia Stadium, AEK Athens' new home ground, is however dependent on the successful organization of key international and UEFA matches.

Given the novelty of the Athens stadium, UEFA plans to observe its operation through November 2023, focusing on AEK Athens' matches in the UEFA club competition and Greece's matches in the EURO 2024 qualifiers. Should everything proceed smoothly, Athens' position as the venue will be solidified in December.

UEFA's other decisions included awarding Poland with the hosting rights for the 2025 European Women’s Under-19 Championship, and finalizing the structure for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The next UEFA executive committee meeting will take place in Cyprus this September.
