Feyenoord has officially completed the acquisition of De Kuip, becoming the effective owner of the stadium after securing a majority stake of more than 95% in Stadion Feijenoord.

The transaction concludes a multi-year process aimed at unifying the football club and one of Europe's most iconic stadiums under a single ownership structure.

A Two-Year Process Reaches Completion Feyenoord

The integration of club and stadium formally began in the summer of 2024, when both organisations signed a Letter of Intent expressing their ambition to unite under one structure.

The process accelerated during 2026. In June, an overwhelming majority of De Kuip shareholders voted in favour of the transaction during an Extraordinary General Meeting. The Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) subsequently approved the merger on 1 July, removing the final regulatory obstacle. With the purchase of new shares now completed, Feyenoord officially controls more than 95% of the stadium.

Ownership of a stadium provides clubs with significantly greater control over long-term decision-making.

Instead of operating through separate entities, Feyenoord can now align sporting, commercial and infrastructure strategies under one organisation.

Immediate Investment Planned

Feyenoord confirmed that additional funding will be made available immediately following the acquisition. The first phase will focus on addressing deferred maintenance while improving supporter comfort and the overall matchday experience.

The club also intends to invest in commercial infrastructure designed to increase the stadium's long-term revenue-generating potential. Alongside short-term improvements, Feyenoord said it will continue evaluating the long-term future of De Kuip to ensure the stadium remains the club's home for many years to come.

The final transaction was completed at De Kuip, where Feyenoord Chief Executive Officer Robert Eenhoorn and Chief Financial Officer Pieter Smorenburg formally signed the documents completing the acquisition. According to the club, the agreement marks the successful conclusion of a process driven by a shared ambition to unite club and stadium under one organisation.
