FC Schalke 04, one of the most iconic football clubs in Germany, has entered into a comprehensive content partnership with Sky Deutschland GmbH, a major player in sports broadcasting. This partnership is set to enhance the reach and visibility of Schalke 04’s content, with an initial agreement lasting until the end of the 2024/2025 season.

Key Components of the Partnership

The collaboration between FC Schalke 04 and Sky Deutschland is built on three main pillars:

  1. Development of New Formats: Schalke 04 and Sky will jointly create new video content formats. These formats will be made available to football fans and Schalke supporters on Sky Sport’s platforms as well as Schalke's own media channels.

  2. Enhanced Coverage of Friendly Matches: Sky will intensify its coverage of Schalke 04’s friendly matches. These games will be broadcasted on Sky Sport’s widely viewed platforms, significantly increasing the exposure of Schalke 04’s preparatory games.

  3. Distribution of Schalke Productions on Sky Platforms: Schalke 04’s media productions will be featured on Sky’s platforms, expanding the club’s content reach beyond its existing audience.

Expanding Schalke 04's Media Presence

This partnership marks a significant step in FC Schalke 04’s strategy to expand its media footprint. Sky Deutschland’s extensive experience in broadcasting and its large viewer base will provide Schalke 04 with an unparalleled platform to showcase its content. The collaboration will allow Schalke to reach new audiences and offer existing fans fresh and engaging content.

Marc Siekmann, Director of Communications at FC Schalke 04, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "Sky has been a strong partner of German football for many years. Their extensive expertise in video content will support the development of our Media House. We produce exciting and unique content every day, which will now reach many more football enthusiasts through Sky’s platforms. We are also looking forward to developing new formats to create added value for our approximately 186,000 members and millions of fans."
Hans Gabbe, Senior Vice President of Sports Rights & Commercialization at Sky Deutschland GmbH, commented, "FC Schalke 04 is one of the strongest brands in German football, with a rich tradition and nationwide appeal. The club is an excellent partner that will help us make our programming even more attractive. Through this content partnership, we can offer Schalke fans on Sky Sport a unique experience with club-specific content, special insights, and exclusive access."

First Broadcast: Schalke vs. NAC Breda

The partnership kicks off with the live broadcast of Schalke 04’s friendly match against Dutch Eredivisie team NAC Breda on September 4th. The game will be aired from the historic Parkstadion, offering fans a first glimpse of the enhanced content collaboration. This match, along with other future friendly games, will also be available on Schalke’s official YouTube channel, ensuring that the club’s global fanbase can tune in.

In addition to match coverage, the partnership includes integrating Schalke 04 players and officials into Sky’s various programming formats, providing fans with even deeper connections to the team.
