Charlton Athletic has confirmed an extension of its lease for both The Valley stadium and the Sparrows Lane training ground, securing the club’s long-term presence at both sites until June 2040. The agreement provides operational stability and supports ongoing investments in the club’s facilities and infrastructure.
Long-Term Security and Strategic Importance
The Valley has been Charlton Athletic’s home ground for nearly a century, while Sparrows Lane serves as the base for the men’s and women’s first teams and the club’s academy.
According to Chief Financial and Operations Officer Ed Warrick, extending the lease forms a key part of the club’s long-term planning and sustainability strategy.
“The Valley has been our home for generations and holds huge significance for the Charlton family. Similarly, Sparrows Lane is fundamental to our future as the training base for both first teams and our academy,” Warrick said.“Securing our long-term presence at both locations is a central strategic priority. This agreement gives us the platform to continue investing in these facilities and planning for sustained success in the coming years.”

Enhancements to the Fan Zone, club shop, and safe-standing area
Continued investment in matchday experience and supporter engagement
At Sparrows Lane, the club has invested in pitch quality, facility improvements, and expanded training infrastructure to support player development and academy operations.
Warrick credited the club’s ownership group for its role in securing the agreement, noting that their long-term commitment was instrumental in achieving the outcome.
