Cagliari Calcio has announced a new strategic investment agreement with a U.S.-based investor group led by Maurizio Fiori, founder of Praxis Capital Management and a native of Sardinia. The transaction brings a qualified minority shareholder into the club’s ownership structure, marking a notable step in Cagliari’s long-term financial and infrastructural strategy.

The deal, signed today and pending regulatory approvals, strengthens the club’s capital base at a time when Italian football entities increasingly seek international investment to support stadium development and structural modernisation.

A Minority Investment Backed by Shared Long-Term Vision Cagliari Calcio

The new investor group acquires a minority stake, while President Tommaso Giulini retains full control and operational leadership. The agreement is framed as a long-term partnership aimed at supporting Cagliari’s next phase of growth, with particular emphasis on:

• financing and advancing the new stadium project,

• expanding structural and commercial capabilities,

• strengthening the club’s overall governance and international positioning.

For Cagliari, the investment offers both capital and global expertise without altering day-to-day leadership, maintaining continuity while injecting additional strategic resources.

An Italian Club Joining a Wave of Cross-Border Investment

Across Serie A and Serie B, international investment has accelerated as clubs seek to stabilise finances, modernise infrastructure and strengthen their commercial outlook. Cagliari’s agreement follows a broader trend of U.S. investor interest in Italian football, driven by valuation growth potential, untapped commercial markets and stadium-led redevelopment opportunities.

Fiori’s group adds a distinctive element: leadership that blends U.S. financial expertise with local identity, given Fiori’s Sardinian roots and long-standing ties to the club.

Statements Reflect Strategic Alignment and Cultural Sensitivity

President Tommaso Giulini described the partnership as a reinforcement of Cagliari’s long-term priorities, highlighting the investor group’s respect for the club’s traditions and its “global potential.”He framed the new investment as a step toward sustainable growth and a multigenerational development pathway.

Maurizio Fiori emphasised the personal significance of the investment, noting that he attended every home match with his grandfather. His statement underscores an investor profile that combines financial capacity with cultural familiarity — a factor often valued by Italian clubs seeking responsible partners rather than purely speculative capital.
