LALIGA has announced a five-season exclusive broadcast partnership with BEGIN, a rising OTT streaming platform in South Asia. The deal grants BEGIN the exclusive rights to stream every match from both LALIGA EA SPORTS (Spain’s top division) and LALIGA HYPERMOTION (second division) in Pakistan and Bangladesh starting in the 2025/26 season, with Sri Lanka joining in 2026/27.
Strategic Expansion in South Asia BEGIN LALIGA
This marks a key moment in LALIGA’s efforts to grow its global reach in emerging digital-first markets. South Asia is home to one of football’s fastest-growing audiences, and BEGIN will serve as the league’s official digital distributor in the region.
“We are delighted to have BEGIN partner with us for Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. At LALIGA we always look for best-in-class partners to deliver Spanish football to fans everywhere,” said Javier Tebas, President of LALIGA.“BEGIN brings strong local expertise and shares our passion for growing the league’s reach. We look forward to working together over the next five years to bring the best of Spanish football to fans in the region.”
Tackling Piracy, Promoting Growth
By offering a legal alternative to unauthorized streams, the agreement addresses a long-standing challenge in the region’s sports broadcasting sector. The collaboration also aims to support a more sustainable and secure digital sports ecosystem that benefits fans, clubs, and commercial partners alike.
“This partnership with the prestigious football competition LALIGA signals our serious intent to transform the sports content economy in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka,” said Jonathan Mark, CEO of BEGIN.“By providing a legal, scalable, and monetizable platform for premium leagues, we’re enabling rights holders, content producers, and brands to engage fans with confidence and scale.”
He added: “Our collaboration lays the groundwork for a structured, future-facing ecosystem that delivers secure and commercially viable sports content, aligned with BEGIN’s long-term ambition to support outreach programs, develop local talent, and uplift a sustainable football talent pool across the region.”
