AC Milan has announced its next step in digital innovation through the upcoming Vision (VSN) token launch, developed by its crypto partner Bitpanda. The collaboration underscores the club’s broader strategic goal of integrating emerging technologies to strengthen fan engagement and global brand positioning.

The Vision token, set to launch on 16 July 2025, will power a new suite of Web3 applications. While the token's infrastructure is built by Bitpanda, AC Milan’s role centers on amplifying the launch and offering distribution access to its global fanbase, creating a use case for digital finance integration within elite European football.

A Club Known for Strategic Tech-Driven Moves

For AC Milan, the collaboration is part of a larger pattern of embracing new technologies to engage fans and broaden the club’s business portfolio. The Rossoneri have actively explored digital commerce, global content distribution, NFTs, and now Web3-powered experiences, seeing technology not as a novelty but as a growth channel.

“Innovation is part of our DNA,” said Maikel Oettle, Chief Commercial Officer of AC Milan. “We are constantly looking for new ways to deepen our connection with fans.”

AC Milan has already shown interest in blockchain activations and digital collectibles in the past, but the token launch offers a more infrastructure-based application, hinting at longer-term ambitions in the digital assets space.

Web3 Meets Global Football Brand AC Milan Bitpanda

With over 500 million fans worldwide, AC Milan provides a platform that few sports properties can match when it comes to distribution, emotional resonance, and cultural credibility. In this partnership, the club plays the role of strategic amplifier—connecting a financial technology product with a global audience through the lens of football.

The move also comes after Bitpanda became AC Milan’s Back-of-Shirt Sponsor in February 2025, further embedding the brand within the club’s commercial identity. That partnership positioned Bitpanda among the Rossoneri’s Principal Partners, giving it high-profile visibility on matchdays and in global campaigns.

The Broader Context: Sports Clubs and Web3

While many football clubs have dabbled in NFTs or fan tokens, AC Milan’s involvement in a token infrastructure launch represents a different kind of collaboration—one that is less speculative and more aligned with platform-level strategy.

The Vision token will reportedly include staking incentives, governance rights, fee reductions, and early access to other digital assets. For AC Milan, this means fans could potentially interact with the club’s future digital experiences through token-based systems.
