Paris Saint-Germain completed the 10th edition of the PSG Academy World Cup, bringing together more than 550 young players from 18 countries and overseas territories for a three-day tournament and cultural programme in Paris.
The event, held between 10 and 12 May, has become one of the central international projects within PSG’s expanding academy network and reflects the club’s broader strategy around global youth development and long-term international brand building.
PSG Continues Building One of Football’s Largest Academy Networks Paris Saint-Germain
The PSG Academy World Cup serves as the flagship international event within the club’s global academy structure, which PSG says now reaches more than 50,000 young players annually worldwide.
The tournament combined competitive football with broader cultural and experiential activities linked to the club and the city of Paris. Participants played matches at the PSG Campus and the Parc des Princes while also taking part in city-based experiences including a Seine river cruise and stadium tours. The finals were held directly on the Parc des Princes pitch, giving academy players access to the club’s primary sporting environment.

The programme reflects how elite football clubs increasingly use academy systems not only for talent development, but also for international engagement, supporter connection and long-term global positioning.
Football Academies Becoming Strategic International Infrastructure
Over the last decade, football academies have evolved far beyond purely sporting structures.
For clubs such as PSG, academy networks now operate across multiple functions:
• football education
• international fan development
• brand expansion
• local partnerships
• long-term talent identification
• family engagement
Events such as the Academy World Cup strengthen emotional connection with the club at an early age while also reinforcing PSG’s international presence in key growth markets.
The participation of academy teams from multiple continents also highlights how academy networks increasingly mirror the global footprint of elite football brands themselves.
