Since 2019, FC Bayern Munich and the Korea Football Association (KFA) have forged a robust partnership aimed at nurturing football talent and developing training structures through regular exchanges at the FC Bayern Campus. This collaboration was further solidified during the Audi Summer Tour in Seoul, where FC Bayern's top executives met with the KFA leadership to underscore their shared goals and commitment.

A Meeting of Minds

On August 2, 2024, FC Bayern's CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, alongside vice presidents Prof. Dr. Dieter Mayer and Walter Mennekes, met with KFA leaders including CEO Jeong Bae Kim, vice president Chang Woe Ryong, head of technical division Daeup Kim, and head of coaches & development Jeehoon Kim. The meeting highlighted the mutual trust and strategic vision that drive this partnership. FC Bayern Korean Football Association

Dreesen: A Partnership That Benefits Both Sides

"The KFA is the logical and best partner for us to promote talent in South Korea," said Dreesen, who presented FC Bayern's new away shirt as a token of goodwill. "This is a partnership that benefits both sides greatly. We are very happy with the cooperation."

Fruitful Outcomes on the Pitch FC Bayern Korean Football Association

The continuous exchange between FC Bayern and KFA is yielding tangible results on the field. A standout example is Hyun-ju Lee, an attacking midfielder who joined FC Bayern II in 2022 from Pohang Steelers. Lee, currently on loan at Hannover 96 to gain valuable experience in the second division, has shown remarkable progress, scoring 10 goals in 26 competitive outings. Prior to Hannover, he played with Wehen Wiesbaden in the second division, further honing his skills.

Junior Matches and Talent Development

In April, a mixed junior team from the South Korean youth national sides faced off against a mixed team from FC Bayern's U17s and U19s at the FC Bayern Campus. The match ended in a 2-1 victory for the Munich youngsters. Notably, the South Korean team featured Mo Gyeong-Bin, who later joined the FC Bayern World Squad 2024, showcasing the depth of talent being nurtured through this partnership. Continuous Development of Coaches

An essential component of this collaboration is the development of South Korean coaches. Regular visits to the FC Bayern Campus allow these coaches to meet and learn from FC Bayern's junior team staff. Each coach spends six months at the academy in Fröttmaning, enhancing their education before being replaced by the next coach in line.

A Partnership for the Future

The partnership between FC Bayern and the KFA represents a long-term commitment to the development of football talent and coaching excellence. By fostering a continuous exchange of knowledge and expertise, both organizations are poised to benefit from the shared success and growth in the years to come.
