Chelsea FC has completed the refurbishment of a community futsal pitch in Guayaquil, Ecuador, the third facility renovated as part of the club’s Can’t Tame Us campaign around its 2026/27 third kit.
The project is located in Guasmo Norte and follows similar pitch renovations in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro earlier this summer. The three projects connect Chelsea’s kit marketing with permanent community football infrastructure in Latin America.
Third Community Facility Added to Campaign Chelsea
The Guayaquil project provides a renovated outdoor football space for local residents, with a focus on increasing access to the game for children and young players.
Chelsea officially opened the facility this week. Ecuadorian singer Javier Neira performed at the event, which was also attended by local influencers, residents and representatives connected to the club.
The Ecuador project follows two previously completed facilities in Brazil. Chelsea said thousands of supporters have visited and used the refurbished pitches in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Ecuador Activation Builds on Chelsea’s Player Connections
Chelsea’s choice of Ecuador has a direct connection to its playing squad.
Moisés Caicedo, Chelsea’s 2024/25 Men’s Player of the Year, is Ecuadorian, while Kendry Páez was born in Guayaquil and has recently returned from a loan spell to join Chelsea’s Cobham Next Gen squad.

The club is leveraging those player connections as part of its positioning in the country, with the pitch project creating a physical presence beyond digital marketing and merchandise distribution.
Kit Launch Campaign Links Marketing With Football Infrastructure
The three renovations form part of Can’t Tame Us, Chelsea’s global campaign supporting the launch of its 2026/27 third kit.
That makes the infrastructure projects part of the club’s wider brand and retail campaign rather than standalone community initiatives.

Scott Fenton, Brand Director at Chelsea FC, said:
“Ecuador has a special connection with Chelsea and has produced incredible players such as Moises Caicedo, and fantastic talents like Kendry Paez.”
Fenton said the Guayaquil facility is intended to provide young players with greater opportunities to play and develop their skills.
