Atlético Mineiro is reportedly exploring an unconventional post-career arrangement with Hulk, as uncertainty grows around the player’s future and potential departure ahead of the 2026 season.

According to Canal do Frossard, Atlético Mineiro has designed a long-term transition project for Hulk that goes beyond a standard contract renewal, combining legacy-building, media rights, and potential equity participation in the club’s SAF structure.

Negotiations Reopen as Exit Scenarios Emerge Hulk

Background to the discussions comes amid reports that Hulk may be approaching the end of his playing cycle at Atlético Mineiro. Brazilian media have reported interest from Fluminense FC, with the player said to have authorised his representatives to explore a possible transfer.

However, Atlético Mineiro’s management has reportedly resisted any domestic transfer, viewing Hulk not only as a sporting asset but also as a strategic figure in the club’s institutional narrative following its most successful recent period.

A Business-Led Legacy Proposal

Canal do Frossard reports that Atlético Mineiro’s proposal to Hulk includes three key elements designed to formalise his long-term association with the club:

• a feature-length documentary chronicling Hulk’s career and impact at Atlético Mineiro

• an offer of a percentage stake in the club’s SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol) following his retirement

• the construction of a statue outside the Arena MRV

From Player to Stakeholder

Hulk joined Atlético Mineiro in 2021 and quickly became a central figure in the club’s modern era, contributing to domestic titles and record-breaking performances. From a football business perspective, the reported proposal reflects a broader shift in how clubs manage iconic players approaching the end of their careers.
