Updated: Feb 18, 2023

Gareth Bale on Monday announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 33. The Welshman has been one of the highest-paid footballers in the world for years. Of course, when it comes to his free time, he is most associated with playing golf, but the Welshman is also involved in investing and multiplying his capital. How does the Welshman invest his money earned during a dozen or so years of football career?

The opening of Elevens Bar & Grill in his hometown of Cardiff in 2017 was Bale's first entry into the foodservice sector.

Elevens offers watching sporting events in Cardiff city centre, with 20 4K HD TVs and full surround sound for the atmosphere of the stadium. Since opening in 2017, Bale's has been runner-up as 'Best for Sport' in the Great British Pub Awards 2018, 2019, 2021 and was the winner of the Hospitality Social Media Awards 2019.

PAR 59

Par 59 is a bar, restaurant and mini golf venue all rolled into one. The restaurant is located in Cardiff. In addition, Bale wants to export his franchise to other cities including Exeter, Bath, Newcastle, Southampton, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh.

Welsh footballer Gareth Bale has become a shareholder in the whiskey producer Penderyn Distillery. Penderyn chief executive Stephen Davies said: "This is a combination of two global Welsh brands. Gareth Bale is an ambassador for Wales as a nation around the world and Penderyn is renowned for its world-class award-winning single malts and spirits which are now distributed in over 50 countries. We are very pleased to establish this partnership as we continue to build our brands around the world.”

A few months ago, the Welshman decided to launch his own line of beers to celebrate Wales' return to the World Cup after a 64-year absence. Currently, the beer is mainly available in Wales and comes in two versions, "Bale Ale" and "Bale Lager", and costs $2. Bale also revealed that he plans to expand the beer into the California market.
