Manchester City has officially unveiled the seating configuration for the expansion of the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium, set to open during the 2025/26 season. This highly anticipated development will increase the stadium's capacity to over 60,000, further cementing its place among the largest and most iconic football venues in the Premier League.

Expanded Capacity and Enhanced Fan Experience

The expansion of the North Stand is part of Manchester City’s ambitious plan to enhance the matchday experience for its diverse and passionate fan base. Once completed, the new stand will offer a broad range of seating options, ensuring that fans of all ages and preferences have access to best-in-class facilities. A key feature of the expansion is the introduction of a large rail-seating area, providing both standing and seated options to improve flexibility and atmosphere during games.

This newly expanded section will complement the existing stands, with the rail-seating areas at opposite ends of the pitch creating a unique dynamic that is expected to elevate the matchday atmosphere. Manchester City has committed to installing a minimum of 3,000 rail seats in the North Stand, with the possibility of expanding this section should fan demand increase before the grand opening.

Catering to the Next Generation of Fans

In keeping with Manchester City’s dedication to growing its fan base, the expansion will introduce new pathways for younger supporters to attend matches at the Etihad Stadium. A significant number of tickets will be ringfenced for fans aged 21 and under, ensuring that the next generation of City supporters has ample opportunity to experience live football at one of the world's premier stadiums.

Additionally, the club will introduce family-friendly areas to encourage more families to attend matchdays. These designated spaces will include alcohol-free zones and new concourse areas designed to make the stadium experience more accessible and enjoyable for fans of all ages.

Inclusivity and Enhanced Facilities

In line with the club’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment, Level One of the expanded North Stand will feature a range of new facilities aimed at supporting the diverse needs of the fan base. These additions will include breakout spaces, religious rooms, and alcohol-free zones, further enhancing the inclusivity of the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City has pledged to continue consulting with supporters throughout the development process to ensure these facilities meet the needs of fans from all backgrounds.

A new 500-seat food hall will provide a unique dining experience, while a premium bar, located in the space previously occupied by hospitality boxes, will cater to around 300 fans. At the rear of the stand, a sky bar with seating overlooking the pitch will offer a distinctive matchday experience, combining comfort with incredible views of the action.

Further details about these premium areas are expected to be released during the 2024/25 season, giving fans a closer look at the variety of experiences on offer.

Part of a Broader Entertainment Destination

The North Stand expansion is a key component of Manchester City’s wider redevelopment plan for the Etihad Campus, transforming the stadium into a multi-faceted entertainment destination. In addition to the expanded seating capacity, the development will feature a stadium roof walk experience and a new City Square fan zone capable of accommodating up to 3,000 fans.

The entertainment destination will also include an extensive selection of food and drink outlets, a new club shop, a museum experience, commercial office space, and one of the largest hotels in Manchester. This comprehensive redevelopment will ensure that the Etihad Campus is not only a world-class venue for football but also a year-round hub for entertainment and hospitality.

A Legacy for Future Generations

As Manchester City continues to evolve as a global football powerhouse, the expansion of the North Stand and the surrounding development at the Etihad Campus will leave a lasting legacy for the club and its supporters. The commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, and providing unparalleled matchday experiences reflects the club's vision for the future.

By enhancing the stadium’s capacity and facilities, Manchester City is not only investing in its current supporters but also creating new opportunities for future generations of fans to be part of the club’s journey.
