Manchester City has announced a partnership with Radisson Hotel Group for the operation of its new 401-room hotel, The Medlock, set to open in late 2026 as part of the club’s wider Etihad Campus development. The project expands the club’s ambition to transform the stadium area into a year-round sports and entertainment district, adding hospitality assets to complement matchdays, concerts and large-scale events.
The Medlock will be directly connected to the Etihad Stadium and positioned within Manchester City’s £300m+ infrastructure programme, which includes expanded fan facilities, food and beverage zones, a rooftop walk experience, museum space and commercial office areas. The hotel forms a central element of the club’s strategy to diversify revenue streams beyond football operations and to position the campus as a regional destination for tourism, business and entertainment.
Radisson Hotel Group Expands Its Stadium-Based Portfolio Manchester City
Radisson Hotel Group — one of the world’s largest hotel companies with more than 1,520 hotels in operation and development — will add The Medlock to its growing collection of properties located in or near major sporting venues. The hotel will be managed by Valor Hospitality, an established operator in the upscale and upper-upscale market.
The Medlock is expected to attract both business and leisure travellers, including visitors attending events at the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live, the new arena adjacent to the campus. Its accessibility from central Manchester and integration with the stadium’s events infrastructure positions it to support large-scale conferences, concerts and matchday demand, broadening the campus’ utility beyond football fixtures.
Accommodation and On-Site Experiences
The hotel will offer suites, deluxe and standard rooms, along with a luxury penthouse. Upon completion, guests will have access to multiple food and beverage outlets and curated visitor experiences such as a roof walk and museum. These additions illustrate the club’s broader move into lifestyle and destination-based infrastructure — a trend increasingly seen among top-tier European clubs seeking to expand their commercial footprint.
Manchester City anticipates that The Medlock will play a significant role in increasing on-campus dwell time, facilitating new types of fan engagement and enabling higher-frequency use of the Etihad Campus outside of matchdays.
Strategic Positioning Within Manchester City’s Revenue Model
The partnership aligns with City Football Group’s long-term approach to infrastructure-led growth. Stadium-integrated hospitality assets provide diversified income opportunities, stabilise revenues in seasonal periods and create a commercial ecosystem that extends access to global travellers and event organisers.
Executive Perspectives
Roel de Vries, Chief Operating Officer at City Football Group, described the announcement as a key milestone in delivering a year-round destination, noting that Radisson’s operational expertise supports the club’s ambitions for the site.
Radisson Hotel Group emphasized that The Medlock complements its expanding stadium-based portfolio, which includes properties at Edgbaston Stadium, Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium and venues in India and China. The group expects the partnership to unlock long-term opportunities as mixed-use sports districts become more central to urban hospitality strategies.
