Vueling Airlines has been named the Official Airline of the Barça Women’s football team, with the deal set to last until June 30, 2026. This collaboration marks a significant step in promoting women's sports and enhancing the visibility of female athletes on a global stage.

A Milestone in Women’s Sports

FC Barcelona is pioneering a new chapter in women's football by becoming the first European women's team to feature on a commercial airliner. Vueling has dedicated one of its Airbus A320s to the team, displaying images of key players such as Aitana Bonmatí, Fridolina Rölfo, Ingrid Engen, Patri Guijarro, and Caroline Graham-Hansen on the aircraft's exterior. This plane will not only ferry the team across Europe but also serve as a flying billboard promoting women's football.

Unveiling the Barça Women's Airbus

The new aircraft design will be unveiled at a special event on April 25, attended by notable team members and club officials. This unveiling is strategically scheduled just before the team’s critical Champions League semi-final match against Chelsea in London. The decorated plane symbolizes the team's ambitions and the growing influence of women in sports.

Three Pillars of Partnership

The collaboration between Vueling and Barça Women is founded on three key pillars: shared origins, social commitment, and the promotion of women’s roles in society. Both organizations hail from Barcelona and are deeply invested in portraying a positive image that transcends sports and societal norms. Their initiatives aim to have a meaningful impact on the community and promote gender equality and diversity.

A Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Vueling's commitment to diversity is evident in its corporate structure, with women making up 71.4% of its managerial board and over 50% of its workforce. This commitment aligns seamlessly with Barça Women’s ethos, which includes breaking down prejudices and empowering women both on and off the field.

Social Impact and Community Engagement

Beyond sports, both Vueling and Barça Women are dedicated to making a positive societal impact. Vueling engages in various social actions, such as facilitating medical transport, supporting vulnerable communities, and aiding in humanitarian crises. This partnership underscores both organizations' dedication to leveraging their platforms for the greater good.

Celebrating 20 Years of Vueling

This partnership coincides with Vueling's 20th anniversary, a milestone that the airline is proud to celebrate by reinforcing its roots in Barcelona. As the dominant carrier at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, Vueling has played a crucial role in connecting Barcelona and Catalonia with the broader world. It continues to facilitate travel across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, and collaborates with other airlines to extend its global reach.

Looking Ahead

As Vueling and Barça Women join forces, this partnership not only elevates the team’s logistical capabilities but also sets a precedent for how sports teams and corporations can collaborate to foster social change and promote diversity. This strategic alliance promises to bring exciting opportunities for both entities and their supporters worldwide, heralding a new era for women’s sports visibility.
