AFC Ajax has announced a collaboration with SAIL to celebrate a series of milestone anniversaries in the Dutch capital. The initiative coincides with Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of SAIL, and Ajax’s 125th year.
Limited-Edition Kit Release Ajax SAIL
As part of the partnership, Ajax has released a special edition of its away kit featuring a SAIL 2025 emblem, symbolically limited to 750 shirts. The deep-blue design, first presented with adidas in July, draws inspiration from Amsterdam’s waterways, a theme also connected to the club’s emphasis on youth development.
The limited-edition shirts are available until 24 August 2025 through the Ajax online shop, the Fanshop at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, and the Ajax Fanshop on Amsterdam’s Kalverstraat.
Symbolic Presentation at SAIL
During SAIL, Ajax representatives will present several of the commemorative shirts to captains of international delegations, reinforcing the club’s cultural link to Amsterdam and its global reach. The gesture highlights both the city’s maritime history and Ajax’s role as one of its most prominent cultural ambassadors.
Strategic Value
This collaboration aligns Ajax with one of Amsterdam’s most visible international events. With ships from around the world docking in the city, the partnership creates opportunities for global brand visibility while strengthening ties with the local community.
By combining milestones for Amsterdam, SAIL, and Ajax, the initiative reflects a broader strategy in European football where clubs increasingly use cultural and civic partnerships to expand engagement beyond sport and deepen their identity with home markets.
